On May 13, 2024 Chairman of the Audit Chamber, Atom Janjughazyan, met with USAID Chief Financial Officer Reginald Mitchell and USAID Armenia Mission Director John Allelo.
Welcoming the guests, Chairman highly appreciated USAID's contribution to the implementation of reform program of the Audit Chamber, especially emphasizing the fact of contributing to the professional support of the US Government Accountability Office (GAO), in the development of the Chamber's capacities.
In his speech, USAID Chief Financial Officer Mitchell emphasized that USAID is committed to supporting Armenia's state bodies and aims to help increase their efficiency for the sake of public interest. At the same time, the CFO noted that the results of the cooperation program with the Audit Chamber is a subject to be proud of.
John Allelo, director of the USAID mission in Armenia noted that the US government is confident that a stable and independent Supreme Audit Institution can play a crucial role in strengthening citizens' trust in the public sector and ensuring the effective use of public resources for the benefit of Armenian citizens.
The parties also exchanged thoughts on the process of legal reforms of the Audit Chamber, expressing hope that the revised legal framework of external state auditing will be of key importance for the field of public finance management in Armenia in the near future by ensuring the new quality of audits.

On June 23, 2020, the three-year project "Technical Assistance to the Audit Chamber of the RA" with a total cost of 1 million USD was launched (in 2023 prolonged to 2025), which is implemented within the framework of the interdepartmental agreement of USAID and GAO's Center of Audit Excellence. As part of the five-year program, GAO's Center of Audit Excellence provides capacity building, training and consulting services to the RA Audit Chamber.
