Yerevan, September 16 – The Audit Chamber of Armenia and the Swedish National Audit Office (SNAO) have signed a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen bilateral cooperation for the years 2025–2030.
On September 15–16, the Audit Chamber hosted the SNAO delegation, headed by Auditor General Kristina Gellerbrant Hagberg. The main purpose of the visit was to reaffirm the commitment of the two supreme audit institutions to continued partnership through the signing of the MoU.
During the visit, the Audit Chamber presented the key results of its activities for 2024–2025, along with upcoming development trends and strategic priorities. Discussions also addressed current challenges, including the implementation of technological infrastructure, improvement of communication, and human resource management.
The SNAO delegation held separate meetings with the Audit Chamber’s Executive, Ethics, Quality Control, and Audit Committees, as well as with heads of core professional divisions and the Secretary General. These meetings focused on more detailed sector-specific issues.
On the second day of the visit, during the Steering Committee Meeting, the parties officially signed the Memorandum of Understanding. The MoU outlines cooperation in several priority areas, including:
- advancing financial and performance audits in line with international standards,
- strengthening organizational capacities,
- improving internal governance systems,
- enhancing communication with stakeholders, and
- reinforcing strategic management.
The new Memorandum builds on the strong foundation of cooperation between Armenia’s and Sweden’s supreme audit institutions and paves the way for new opportunities in the strategic development of the Audit Chamber. It aims to further enhance the effectiveness and accountability of public governance, while fostering transparency and public trust.
